Mimi Stillman, Artistic Director of the Dolce Suono Ensemble, requested that I compose a piece for her and Philadelphia Orchestra principal flute Jeffrey Khaner that reflects on the music of Bach and the teaching legacy of Julius Baker (mentor to both Khaner and Stillman). The result, a Nearly Complementary Invention with Quasi-Canonized Bach, will be premiered along with works by several other Philadelphia-based composers including Richard Danielpour, Jan Krzywicki, James Primosch, and Andrea Clearfield. Tickets are available here.
